All students deserve equitable access to an education that nurtures, develops, and empowers them to reach their full potential. Greater Lafayette Commerce has partnered with area schools, Ivy Tech, and regional employers to create an ecosystem that helps students “connect the dots” between their education and a career. By aligning education standards with high-demand skills, the Greater Lafayette Career+™ Ecosystem will enhance and grow local and regional college and career opportunities for students in grades K-12.
Career+™ is defined as a locally available, in-demand, high-wage job with a fully funded college education. Career+™ develops work-ready students prepared for area high-wage, in-demand careers, and the opportunity to pursue higher levels of debt-free education through employer and state funded tuition programs.
Learning modules and activities are integrated into the students’ current classes. These modules will help students build the skills needed by partner employers and tell the stories of local employers.

Career+™ experiences and events create opportunities to ensure all future career seeking students benefit from the networking of companies in advanced manufacturing and logistics to gain full-time employment, internships, and apprenticeships.
The Career+™ experiences and events included in the Career+™ program will help students “connect the dots” between the coursework they can complete while in high school and locally available in-demand, high-wage jobs. This becomes a pathway to “earn and learn” after high school through fully-funded post secondary educational opportunities. Specific Career+™ opportunities will be highlighted to students and parents. Over time, students will explore the “earn and learn” opportunities after graduation through programs at Ivy Tech and fully-funded opportunities made possible by their new employers or through state-funded programs like Indiana’s Next Level Jobs Program.
Learn MoreShe decided to take advantage of Career+, and completed the Workplace Communication microcredential course her senior year. She also completed a series of learning modules that highlighted how she could access local career opportunities. Thanks to the career skills she learned through Career+ and the connections she made through Career+ Experiences, upon graduation, Cynthia is set to start working at one of the Career+ partner companies. She will be working full time earning $36,000 per year with full benefits, and will be attending Ivy Tech part time at no cost through one of the many benefits offered by her employer.
Career Coaches support students interested in pursuing Career+ pathways in advanced manufacturing or logistics. Support includes actions such as the development or refinement of a 4-year graduation plan that includes a microcredential, Next Level Program of Study (NLPS), Capstone course with Work-Based Learning, and placement into a locally available, in-demand, high-wage career with employer-funded college education upon graduation from high school. Career Coaches also aid in transitioning students to Ivy Tech staff for postsecondary support.
